Namesake
Posus was named after Poseidon, the Greek god of the sea. This is because their main export was fish. They chose Poseidon as their patron god because they wanted to assure safe travel for the fishermen. Also, their seaside location gave them prime trade routes to export their goods and import other city-states' products. Lastly, when founded, their main desire was a strong navy. They believed Poseidon could help them attain this goal by helping them in their naval battles. These were the main reasons that Posus was named after Poseidon.
